WHO IS THE COEPANY?
Well, it’s a long story. Okay, not really. It started on the morning of January 2nd, 2007. The agency that I worked for had built
a new office and it was supposed to be ready for occupancy but alas, was not. I was forced to work at home for a couple weeks. Another employee
decided to join me due to my quick Internet connection. Oh, and he happened to be my boyfriend so it was an easy commute. We woke up when we woke up.
We worked in our pjs. All day if we wanted to. We took breaks to make ourselves snacks, lunch or watch a little Design on a Dime. It was a productive
work environment. We liked working at my house. I made good coffee and hot cocoa. We met with the AEs and got briefed on jobs at Starbucks. Or we
ichatted with each other. Shit got done. And it was by the end of the third day, I think, that we started referring to my apartment as The Coepany.
So to answer the question of this header, The Coepany is not so much a group of people necessarily, as it is a philosophy. A mindset if you will.
Where creativity is free to exist unrestrained. Where rules are broken but chaos does not exist. Well, sometimes when a concept is killed there is
a mourning period with all five stages of the grieving process, including anger, but I digress. The Coepany exists of freelancers, full-timers,
lovers and fighters. And you will find the links to their portfolios here (as soon as I get them). Think of The Coepany as a virtual world of
advertising professionals who are more than the sum of their parts. Whatever that means. Some are actively looking for work (like me); others are not
(like me – depending on who’s reading this). But they all believe that good work doesn’t have to be done inside four concrete walls or three cube
walls or any walls for that matter. Good work can be done while swimming, seeing a drive-in movie or eating cereal in your birthday suit on the balcony.
And if you’re doing the latter, Happy Birthday to you.
